PixelGenius, the developers of PhotoKit™, PhotoKit Sharpener™ and PhotoKit Color 2™ have released what they have determined are Release Candidate (RC) versions of their products for Mac and Windows users of Photoshop CS3 or Photoshop CS3 Extended. These RCs are “real close” but still have a couple of issues and need testing “in the wild”.
PG has also announced that due to popular demand, these new RCs will be able to use cross-platform licensing. So, if you are in a mixed-platform environment, you can use your Mac serial number on Windows or your Windows serial number on Mac.
PG stated, on their web site, that in order to accomplish this, they have incorporated the new serial number scheme along with product activation. The standard 2 activations are allowed by the End User License Agreement (EULA). Current users with valid and registered installs will not need to re-enter their serial numbers but will need to activate this new version. More info about activation is available on the download page.
Release Candidate Notes: The RCs of PixelGenius products are not yet officially supported by PixelGenius. All three products have been tested and are compatible with Photoshop CS3 and CS3 Extended, however, there are some known issues;
- The current Read Me files have not yet been updated with product activation information.
- Some of our plug-in modules when run under Photoshop CS3 can not be started when an adjustment layer is the currently targeted layer-the work around is to select a pixel based layer. PixelGenius believes this is a bug with Photoshop CS3 and not our products and we’ve contacted Adobe about this issue.
- Photoshop CS2 under Vista is not officially supported by Adobe, so our products can not be officially supported either. The work around is to make sure the Photoshop CS2 application is run under Admin Permissions.
- Adobe does not recommend running any earlier version of Photoshop than Photoshop CS2 under Vista and PixelGenius will not support any of our products running under any other version of Photoshop besides Photoshop CS3 or Photoshop CS3 Extended.
The Mac and Windows RCs are available at the download page here.
Users of the previous beta versions of the plug-in should update to these new versions as the betas are due to expire today, June 1st, 2007.
