‘Raw’ Format Is a Lifesaver – From Publish.com

“Opinion: Adobe’s DNG specification is a boon to software writers and smaller camera manufacturers, but the big players might resist it.

Will Adobe’s DNG (Digital Negative ) displace the current multitude of raw camera formats? I don’t really have an opinion, but I can provide some explanatory material to inform the debate.

I do many things, and I learn quickly, but writing has never been a strong suit of mine. I hope you will bear with me while my learning curve grows. Telling tall tales is my strong suit–especially when the tale is true. Given who I am, I know many true tall tales.

Whose trademark is it?

In an email from friend Pedro Meyer, publisher of ZoneZero a web site dedicated to digital photography, he writes to PhotoshopNews:

“Dear JEFF!
Someone did a fantastic job…. Congratulations…it’s clean, easy to understand, to the point, practical, necessary, good design. WOW! I thoroughly enjoyed it. BTW… maybe someone at Adobe may want to take Kodak to task, with all the bill boards all over Calcutta in India, surely misusing the copyrights by Adobe on the Photoshop trademark.

More Creative Suite update speculation

In a story on InfoWorld Tech Watch (see story), Adobe President and COO Shantanu Narayen talked about “pursuing a larger vision of enterprise document services” and also, when asked about the Creative Suite Update, Tech Watch reported: “Narayen was reluctant to confirm the Creative Suite reports, but he did acknowledge that product updates are in the pipeline.”
