For those of you with a bit of time on your hands (or want to check out just how bad some people’s Photoshop skills are), check out

Here you’ll find some really shoddy Photoshop work. So bad in fact that it’s really rather amusing…such as this Hungarian ad for Red Bull.

Red Bull: Gives You Nightmares

Comment: Red Bull in Hungary makes you wish you had never seen this image. Scrubbing your eyeballs doesn’t work, I tried.

On the Road to Photoshop World-Orlando

No, I’m not going to Disney World…but I am in Orlando getting ready for the kick-off of this year’s Photoshop World.

The theme this year is THE EVOLUTION (probably because of the “evolution” of Photoshop) and rumor has it that Scott Kelby will be dressed as Captain Kirk and the staff will be the crew of the Starship Enterprise.

I’ve already run into Scott (not literally-I just saw him walking by on crutches). Seems Scott had a little accident. It’s either a 1)-a skiing accident while in the Swiss Alps, 2)-a kick boxing accident when delivering a vicious round kick or 3)-an unfortunate treadmill incident. We’ll investigate and report back so stay tuned…

Just found this story from Scott’s blog: I’m Heading to Photoshop World today. On Crutches!

Mac OS X for Photographers by Rod Wynne-Powell

A YouTube for artists

Source: CNET
Written by Ina Fried

DeviantArt gets 1.5 billion page views a month, making it one of the most popular Web sites that many people have never even heard of.

Despite the name, only a fraction of the art on the site is what might be labeled deviant. In reality, the site boasts millions of user-uploaded works of art, everything from photography to 3D digital conceptual art to old-fashioned canvas-and-paint portraits.

Political photography: The illusionists

Photo op by Peter Kennard

The camera never lies – or does it? Peter Kennard and Alexander Rodchenko have both manipulated images to undermine those in power. The results are subversive and unsettling, says Tom Lubbock

Source: The Independent

What is the power of images? Take this one. It shows Tony Blair, in shirt and tie, facing more or less front, and grinning hard, as he takes his own photo. But behind him the scene is entirely filled with the smoke and fire of a massive explosion, blowing the desert apart. Its detonation seems to be simultaneous with Blair’s snap.

Ok, it DID finally Air!

On Thursday, Scott posted on his blog (Photoshop Insider) that Photoshop User TV DID finally air on the Fox Business channel.

From Scott: “Hard to believe as this must sound, but Photoshop User TV actually did air on “real” television last night on Fox Business channel. Now, as you might expect, besides the date problem, there was apparently a time slot issue in some parts of the country, and as soon as I’m back in the office (tomorrow), I’ll track it down and hopefully get you the right info for next week, but hey….it’s a start. :)

So, some people in some parts of the country got to see it, others may not have. The good news however is that regardless of the Fox Business channel’s scheduling “issues”, you can STILL be assured of seeing each and every episode on Photoshop User TV‘s web site!

Ok, Probably Tonite Says Scott

Scott Kelby wrote last week of Photoshop User TV’s premier on “real TV” but there seems to have been, uh, well, a technical glitch? However, today on his blog (Photoshop Insider) he posted “I somewhat hesitate to say this, but tonight, there is a more than a reasonable chance that at 1:30 am (same time in each time zone), Photoshop User TV will make it’s “real” television debut on Fox Business channel.”

The Creative Digital Darkroom

9780596100476_lrg.jpgThe Creative Digital Darkroom
By Katrin Eismann, Sean Duggan

This book takes photographers beyond the quick tips and gimmicky effects of many digital photography books. Author Katrin Eismann — an internationally acclaimed artist, bestselling author, and gifted educator — offers high-profile work, including her own, as examples for teaching photographers how to use the digital medium to create, edit, and output images that reflect their true vision.

Co-authored by photographer and teacher Sean Duggan, The Creative Digital Darkroom translates skills, concepts, and nomenclature of the traditional darkroom into digital solutions for photographers who sense that, despite the newness of the technologies at hand, there remains a timeless method for learning and practicing photography the right way.

This is not a Photoshop book per se, but it does focus on the photographic aspects of Photoshop, something other books claim to do but rarely have the discipline to accomplish.
