The Adobe® Photoshop® CS4 11.0.1 update addresses a number of issues discovered after Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop CS4 Extended (11.0) software were released.

The most significant fixes in the Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 update include the following:

• A number of issues that could cause slow performance have been addressed.
• Pen barrel rotation with Wacom tablets now works correctly.
• Photoshop now correctly recognizes 3D textures edited by a plug-in.
• The quality of the results of Auto-Blend Layers (Stack Images) has been improved.
• A problem that could result in a crash when pasting formatted text has been fixed.
• A crash that could result from a corrupt font no longer occurs.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
This updater will update only the retail version of Photoshop CS4 and not any prerelease (beta) versions. To confirm that the updater has run successfully, launch Photoshop and verify that the version number on the splash screen shows 11.0.1 and not 11.0. If it does not show 11.0.1, you may not have a retail version of Photoshop CS4. Contact your local Adobe retailer or visit the Adobe website to purchase one.

The Photoshop 11.0.1 update is available as a free download for existing Photoshop CS4 customers at http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/ or through the Adobe updater via the application itself.

What’s new in Photoshop CS4 by Martin Evening http://photoshopnews.com/2008/09/24/what%e2%80%99s-new-in-cs4-by-martin-evening/ http://photoshopnews.com/2008/09/24/what%e2%80%99s-new-in-cs4-by-martin-evening/#comments Wed, 24 Sep 2008 09:28:30 +0000 Martin Evening http://photoshopnews.com/?p=2788

Photoshop CS3 had some mixed reviews. It didn’t have quite as many features of interest to photographers as say, previous versions of the program. I think such responses may also have been influenced by the introduction of Lightroom 1, which was definitely designed with photographers in mind. It is probably fair to say that there was a certain amount of envy among the Photoshop team to the ‘new kid on the block’. Well, Photoshop CS4 has arrived, hot on the heels of Lightroom 2 and it’s time to see how the new version of the ‘mother ship’ program shapes up.

As far as Photoshop CS4 itself goes, I think photographers will be very pleased with some the new changes here. Photoshop now has a smart dark gray interface and adopted a task-based approach to image editing and this can be seen in the way image adjustments are now accessible within their own panel. When you combine this with the ability to non-destuctively edit a layer mask, you’ll discover that the  Photoshop CS4 image editing system offers the most flexible yet for pixel image editing.

Photoshop CS2 (9.0.2) Updater Now Available for Download http://photoshopnews.com/2006/09/13/photoshop-cs2-902-updater-now-available-for-download/ http://photoshopnews.com/2006/09/13/photoshop-cs2-902-updater-now-available-for-download/#comments Thu, 14 Sep 2006 04:02:45 +0000 PSN Editorial Staff http://photoshopnews.com/2006/09/13/photoshop-cs2-902-updater-now-available-for-download/ Adobe has posted the Mac and Windows Photoshop CS2 (9.0.2) Updaters as downloadable files. They are available in the Download Files for Photoshop. Click here for the Mac version and here for the Windows version.

From the update pages:

The Adobe Photoshop 9.0.2 update fixes a number of problems discovered after Photoshop CS2 (9.0) was released. The Photoshop 9.0.2 update includes all the fixes contained in the earlier Photoshop 9.0.1 update. Therefore, it is not necessary to apply the 9.0.1 update before running the 9.0.2 update on Photoshop CS2.

The most significant fixes in the 9.0.2 release include the following:

  • Photoshop no longer crashes when encountering unsupported file types through the Acrobat Touchup workflow.
  • Supported files that incorrectly produced an “unsupported color space” message now open as expected.
  • TIFF files with layer data greater than 2GB now open correctly.
  • A printing issue that could cause banding when using inkjet printers with Mac OS X v.10.4 has been resolved.
The most significant fixes in the 9.0.1 release (also included in the 9.0.2 update) include the following:

    • Photoshop no longer hangs for several seconds when using painting tools with quick strokes.
    • A program error that could appear when mousing over a high-resolution document with the Brush tool has been fixed.
    • Documents containing a large number of text layers now open more quickly.
    • An error that could cause a crash on launch, or when opening or saving a file, has been addressed.
    • TIFF files from certain scanners can now be opened correctly.
    • After editing an image in Photoshop CS2 via Acrobat Touchup, the image no longer gets repositioned.
    • XMP metadata from AI and PDF files is now retained in Photoshop.
    • Slow performance when toggling layer visibility has been fixed.
    • Info palette numbers now display and update when moving a curve point in Curves via the cursor keys.
    • Problems opening certain TIFF and PSB files greater than 2GB have been resolved.
    • The Merge to HDR command now functions properly when using high-ASCII characters in the user login.

    The Mac download page says:

Note: If you previously downloaded and installed an earlier version of the 9.0.2 update and are using a version of Mac OS X prior to v.10.4.x, see the Additional Notes below.

However, there are no additional notes at the bottom of the page except the Mac Installation Instructions, the notes are contained in the ReadMe file:

    Additional Notes

This 9.0.2 update replaces an earlier version that was briefly distributed via the Adobe Update Manager. This revised update addresses an issue discovered in the earlier release that could cause a crash when printing on systems running Mac OS 10.2.x or 10.3.x. If you previously installed the earlier 9.0.2 update and are affected by that issue, please re-install Photoshop CS2, then apply this update. If you are running Mac OS 10.4 or later, there is no need to reinstall & apply the update.

    1. Quit Photoshop CS2.
    2. Move any personal files that you want to save from the Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS2 folder.
    3. Delete the Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS2 folders and its contents.
    4. Empty the trash.
    5. Run the Photoshop CS2 installer.
    6. Run the Photoshop 9.0.2 update.

This updater will update only the retail version of Adobe Photoshop CS2 software and not any pre-release (Beta) versions. To confirm that the updater has run successfully, launch Photoshop and verify that the version number on the splash screen shows 9.0.2 and not 9.0 or 9.0.1. If it does not show 9.0.2, you may not have a retail version. Please contact your local Adobe retailer or http://www.adobe.com/ to purchase one.

The problem seems to cause an immediate crash when trying to print from Photoshop 9.0.2.

According to Dave Howe from Photoshop Q&E, they are able to reproduce the problem and engineering is looking into the problem. Adobe may be pulling the Mac 9.0.2 Update to fix the issue with system 10.3.x. There does not appear to be any issues when using Photoshop 9.0.2 to print under 10.4.x.

Note: if you have 10.3.x you may need to re-install Photoshop CS2 (9.0.0) and do the 9.0.1 update until the issue is resolved. The 9.0.2 update is still only available via Adobe Updater and is not yet posted as a download.

The Windows version of the 9.0.2 updater does not seem to have any problems reported as yet.

    • Undo/Redo work properly when multiple documents are open.
    • Photoshop no longer produces a program error when encountering unsupported file types through the Acrobat Touch-up workflow.

Adobe Help Center – Mac http://photoshopnews.com/2005/05/20/adobe-help-center-mac/ http://photoshopnews.com/2005/05/20/adobe-help-center-mac/#comments Sat, 21 May 2005 02:09:44 +0000 PSN Editorial Staff http://photoshopnews.com/2005/05/20/adobe-help-center-mac/ Adobe has posted an update, for Macintosh only, for the Adobe Help Center of Creative Suite 2.

    From the web page:

Adobe Help Center – multiple languages
The Adobe® Help Center is a free, downloadable application that includes three primary features:

    • Product Help provides Help topics for Adobe CS2 designated software products installed on your system. (If none of these products are installed, Help topics for them aren’t available.) Help topics are updated periodically and can be downloaded through Adobe Help Center preferences.

    • Expert Support provides information about Adobe Expert Support plans and lets you store details about plans you’ve purchased. If you have an active support plan, you can also use the Expert Support section to submit Web cases — questions sent to Adobe support professionals over the Internet. To access links in the Expert Support section, you must have an active Internet connection.

    • More Resources provides easy access to the extensive resources on Adobe.com, including support pages, User to User Forums, tips and tutorials, and training. You can also use this area to store contact information for friends, colleagues, or support professionals, or even Web sites you refer to for inspiration or troubleshooting information.

    System requirements
Refer to the current system requirements for Adobe Creative Suite 2 software.

    Installation instructions
After downloading a DMG file in Macintosh, double-click the DMG file to access the file’s contents.

Read the entire page and get the download link
