Martin Evening, author of Adobe Photoshop CS3 for Photographers has published an update to working with Adobe Camera Raw 4.1. This feature story is being published exclusively on PhotoshopNews and is an adaptation of some of the Lightroom-News stories that were published earlier in the summer to coincide with the announcement of the Lightroom 1.1 update. This new version of the Camera Raw plug-in replaces the original Camera Raw plug-in that was installed with Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 and 4.0 software. Visit the Camera Raw page for a complete list of supported cameras.

Adobe has posted the Mac and Windows Photoshop CS2 (9.0.2) Updaters as downloadable files. They are available in the Download Files for Photoshop. Click here for the Mac version and here for the Windows version.

As noted on the Mac Photoshop User to User forums (see original thread) there seems to be a reproducible issue with the Photoshop CS2 (9.0.2) update when installed on Mac systems running 10.3.9. The problem seems to cause an immediate crash when trying to print from Photoshop 9.0.2.

According to Dave Howe from Photoshop Q&E, they are able to reproduce the problem and engineering is looking into the problem. Adobe may be pulling the Mac 9.0.2 Update to fix the issue with system 10.3.x. There does not appear to be any issues when using Photoshop 9.0.2 to print under 10.4.x.

Note: if you have 10.3.x you may need to re-install Photoshop CS2 (9.0.0) and do the 9.0.1 update until the issue is resolved. The 9.0.2 update is still only available via Adobe Updater and is not yet posted as a download.

The Windows version of the 9.0.2 updater does not seem to have any problems reported as yet.

Photoshop CS2 (9.0.2) is now available via Adobe Updater-accessed from within the application. So far, no stand alone updates have appeared on either the Mac Photoshop Updates or Windows Photoshop Updates pages nor the New Downloads.

The Multiprocessor Support update fixes a problem discovered after Adobe Photoshop CS2 (9.0) was released. Machines with more than four processors in total (counting HyperThreading) will now use all of those processors.

Adobe has released an update to bring Adobe Stock Photos to version 1.0.7. This updates resolves an issue with crashing when using version 1.0.6. To accesss and install the update, launch Adobe Bridge, go to Help menu and launch Adobe Updater. Scroll to the Adobe Stock Photos item and select Adobe Stock Photo 1.0.7. The update is for both Mac and Windows and is only available via Adobe Updater.

Adobe Photoshop CS2 (aka version 9.0.0) has a new update available for download to update Photoshop 9.0.0 to 9.0.1.

Adobe has re-posted the most recent Bridge update; Adobe Bridge version 1.03 (full version number is 1.0.3.106). The update is only available for download from the Adobe web site, not through Adobe Updater. The issue regarding the Camera Raw plug-in failing to work in some cases has been resolved.

NEWS FLASH (11/17/05, 1:15 pm Central)-the Bridge 1.03 Update has been pulled from the Adobe Downloads site due to an apparent issue with the installer. Some people have reported issues where the Camera Raw Plug-in fails to work after the Bridge 1.03 Update has been installed. PSN will post additional information when it arrives. For now, those people who DID download the 1.03 update and are having problems, we suggest visiting the Adobe hosted Bridge Forums (Mac and/or Windows) for any additional information on how to correct the issue.

Adobe® Stock Photos has a new update, version 1.0.3, which gives you access to more images than ever before. The Adobe Stock Photos 1.0.3 update adds several new features and fixes some problems discovered after Adobe Stock Photos 1.0.2 was released. UPDATE: It seems the updates were posted prematurely, PSN has removed the direct links. However, the 1.03 update is now available via Adobe Updater.

Adobe has posted an Adobe Bridge update to bring Bridge to version 1.02. Note: Adobe Bridge 1.0.2 is only available as a download from adobe.com. It will not be available from the Adobe Updater from within your Adobe applications.

The Windows stand alone Bridge 1.0.1 updater is available for download from the Adobe Support Downloads website at the Bridge downloads for Windows.

No word yet regarding a stand alone downloadable installer for Windows.

A new version of Adobe Bridge has been release via Adobe Updater. Bridge 1.01 is a 44.32 MB download. This update includes support for additional languages, improved stability and increased performance, particularly when launching Bridge on systems with large number of fonts.

Adobe has posted an update, for Macintosh only, for the Adobe Help Center of Creative Suite 2.

The 30 day demo versions for both Windows and Macintosh are now available for download via FTP.

Based upon confirmation on various web sites, it appears that Photoshop CS2 is now shipping. Reports are coming in that early buyers are receiving their packages today, Friday April 22, 2005.

Typically, the early reports of shipments and people receiving their copies, is followed by a ramp up period by Adobe Fulfillment to reach full shipment and wide distribution. That period could take between a week to ten days before Photoshop CS 2 is widely available in retail and web store channels.

In a forum thread that started on Monday, March 28th, 2005 (see original thread) a forum member stated he was a beta tester and appeared to violate his NDA by discussing aspects of Photoshop CS2 that were not revealed in the original leak of the Photoshop CS2 press release.

File this one under “oops”. . .

On Sunday, March 27th, 2005 Adobe accidently exposed a press release regarding Adobe Photoshop CS2 dated April 4th 2005. Several threads were posted on the Adobe User to User forums at around 2:00PM Pacific and threads made it out to other web sites such as DPReview and RobGalbraith.

Sources at Adobe marketing reached by cell phone on Sunday afternoon were informed of the leak but had no comment.
