Book Writing Hiatus for PhotoshopNews
As some of may know, with Bruce’s passing I’ve taken up the responsibility to update Real World Camera Raw in Adobe Photoshop CS3-Bruce’s best-selling book series all about Camera Raw.
As a result, I’m going to take a break from PhotoshopNews while I concentrate on finishing up the book. So, from now until the beginning of August, 2007, PhotoshopNews will get only weekly attention when there’s a big story about Photoshop, Lightroom or Adobe in general. Some of my PixelGenius partners have volunteered to pick up some of the slack but rather than trying to do a daily update, look for weekly postings.
The book is due to be released the beginning of September, 2007.

Jeff, I’m sure you’ll do Bruce proud. BTW did you put the smokes away yet???

I was wondering that too?
Good luck with the update

You’ll be happy to note that I’ve not smoked since Jan 8th, 2007. I’ve also been to the doc (full checkup before the Antarctic trip in Feb) and with the addition of some blood pressure meds, I’m now the color of healthy…so far, my disposition hasn’t change (I’m still a royal pain in the arse)
:~)

Jeff,
Eighteen and a half years later, I not only know the day, but the time that I gave ‘em up. It was the toughest thing I’ve ever done. Good for you!

I’m gonna see if Amazon has pre-orders for this book today! I recommend that previous version to everyone I know. A great resource, and a good reason why my photos in the database at work took a quantum leap in quality. I could adjust every single one of thousands when I get back from a trip!

Good for you Jeff!! It’s been 7 years for me (2 packs of straight Camels a day.)I still have frequent visits with Jack Daniels but what the heck. Take care and BTW I stumbled onto the story about the wine tasting trip you took with Graham Nash… I am a huge fan of his and of all the permutations of CSNY, for supposedly so cranky you have some wonderful friends
Take care sir!!

Great news Jeff! Are there - apart from this - any plans to update “Real World Photoshop CS2″ too?

Yep, Conrad Chavez is doing that…Peachpit is the publisher but I’m not involved…

My wife once told me I created an art form out of quitting. I can’t count the number of stops and restarts. What helped me was to start thinking of myself as a non-smoker. Finally did it about twenty years ago. The wine has tasted a whole lot better.

RHIP-Royalty Has It’s Privileges!
My wife quit cold turkey the day she found out she was pregnant. The day I quit I was feeding my daughter(she was a few months old). I took one look at her and then at the smoke rising from the ashtray and decided that she needed the clean air more than I needed to smoke. She just turned 25.
Best of luck with the book(we all know you’ll do Bruce proud) and giving up the smokes!
