Tom Fors Releases ACRCalibrator 1.0

Tom Fors, the author of the AcrCalibrator script has released his final 1.0 version. It is available for download now from his web site chromoholics, oh, yeah, and it’s still free.

AcrCalibrator is a Javascript that can be loaded in Photoshop CS2 and CS3 to automate the process of determining the optimal camera calibration settings of your particular camera.
Requirements for using the AcrCalibrator are;

  • A licensed copy of Photoshop CS2 or CS3. (meaning Camera Raw 3.x and 4.x)
  • A digital camera capable of capturing and downloading raw images.
  • A GretagMacbeth 24-patch ColorChecker to photograph with your camera.

Additionally, Tom has added a Discussion Forum (hosted on Yahoo) as well as a bug report form and even a gallery for people to show results.

Tom has also posted a tribute to Bruce Fraser who developed the Camera Raw calibration procedure that is the basis of the AcrCalibrator.

Users of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom can also use the script in Photoshop and move the results into Lightroom for the creation of camera calibration preset. Note, the script itself will only run in Photoshop CS2 and CS3 and can not be run from Lightroom.
