Two years ago, after spending $3.4 billion to acquire Macromedia, Adobe Chief Executive Bruce Chizen told the Mercury News: “We are in a better position than any other software company in the world.”

Since then, the San Jose maker of Acrobat and Photoshop software has used Macromedia’s tools and talent to expand from the desktop to the Web, online video and mobile entertainment — and Adobe’s stock has risen from about $30 in early 2005 to $43.16 Monday.

Of all the new features in Photoshop CS3, those that stand out for me most are the ones that have been built around the new Align Content feature, engineered by Jeff Chien.

To coincide with the official announcement of Photoshop CS3, Martin Evening has released a sample chapter from his forthcoming book: Adobe Photoshop CS3 for Photographers, published by Focal Press.

The new edition of this best selling book should be hitting the streets in Spring of 2007, shortly after the official release of Photoshop CS3.

Adobe announces–officially–Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop CS3 Extended

Due to ship [soon], Adobe Photoshop CS3 will sell for $649 (estimated US street price) with upgrades from Photoshop 7 and beyond costing $199 and Adobe Photoshop CS3 priced at $999 (estimated US street price) with upgrades from Photoshop 7 and beyond costing $349.

Or, should we say “Suites” as there are now a lot of different Creative Suite 3 options.
