Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop CS3 Extended FAQs

Adobe has announced that Photoshop CS3 will be released in two versions; Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop CS3 Extended.

Since Adobe is not releasing the exact feature set and pricing (both features and pricing are expected to be announced March 27th.), Adobe has provided the following FAQ to explain exactly what is being announced at this time.

Q. What’s the big news?
A. Adobe will expand its Photoshop product line in Spring 2007, to better meet the needs of its users. There will soon be two editions of Photoshop® CS3 software for both the Macintosh and Windows platforms: Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended. We want to share this exciting news so you could stay abreast of our upcoming product release plans and better understand which Photoshop will be the right one for you. Pricing and availability information will be provided at our announce in the Spring.

Q. What is Adobe® Photoshop® CS3?

We do not plan to release a beta version of Photoshop CS3 Extended, but look forward to sharing this exciting new version of

Q. When will Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop CS3 Extended be available?
A. Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop CS3 Extended software will be available in Spring 2007.

Q. What operating systems and platforms will Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop CS3 Extended support?
A. Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop CS3 Extended will run under Mac OS X, version 10.4.8, on the new Intel-based Mac computers with measurably faster launch times and increased speed and performance for many task. As Universal Binary software, Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop CS3 Extended will also continue to support legacy PowerPC-based Macs. In addition, both versions of Photoshop run on Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 and all editions of the new Windows Vista™ operating system, except the Starter and Home Basic editions. Detailed system requirements will be available in Spring 2007.

Q: Is this the official Photoshop CS3 announcement?
A. No, however, we wanted to let our Photoshop customers know about Adobe’s upcoming product plans so they can better understand which Photoshop will be the right one for them when the products release in Spring 2007.

Q. How much will Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop CS3 Extended cost?
A. We will provide detailed pricing information when we get closer to shipping Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop CS3 Extended.
