Photographer held for hours by police

He was taken into custody for questioning because of what he decided to snap a couple of shots of.

Soldier’s imagery from Iraq dominates All-Army Photo Contest

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – A Soldier deployed in Iraq discovered the beauty of digital photography and dominated the 2005 All-Army Photography Contest.

Sgt. Nicholas Sendelbach mail ordered a digital single-lens-reflex camera from New York to the Middle East and all but swapped munitions for lenses to document his Army unit’s humanitarian missions.

“I would either shoot with my machine gun or my camera, whichever was useful at the time,” he said.

Scott Byer on the Mac Intel Switch

From his Living Photoshop Adobe Blog, Photoshop engineer Scott Byer had this to say regarding the switch to Universal Binary using Xcode.

By now you have probably figured out that we aren’t releasing Universal Binaries of our current application versions. If you haven’t, all you need to know is pretty explicitly spelled out here.

“But, c’mon”, I hear people saying, “Steve said it was just a recompile!” Or, “Back during the PowerPC transition, you guys released a patch!”

Well, this time is different. And I really wish it weren’t. But let me tell you how…

Adobe’s Chizen Keeps His Chin Up

New York – Bruce Chizen, chief executive of Adobe Systems since 2000, recently led his company through an eight-month, $3.4 billion acquisition of Web design software company Macromedia. Legal concerns about an industry monopoly were eventually dismissed, and the deal was finalized in December 2005.
