Standard & Poor’s Equity Research upgraded Adobe Systems (nasdaq: ADBE – news – people ) to “buy” from “hold,” saying the company’s franchises are strong and that the valuation is attractive.

The research firm said investor sentiment towards Adobe has been dampened by perceived competitive threats from Microsoft (nasdaq: MSFT – news – people ) as well as Adobe’s pending acquisition of Macromedia (nasdaq: MACR – news – people ).
