Today’s announcement that Apple will be phasing itself to the Intel architecture comes as no surprise to this writer since it’s simply a smart move. I also first got wind of this deal back in 2003 and expected it to have been announced this January. I missed it by one keynote and 5 months.

Apple to Use Intel Processors Beginning in 2006

Press Release: WWDC 2005, SAN FRANCISCO—June 6, 2005—At its Worldwide Developer Conference today, Apple® announced plans to deliver models of its Macintosh® computers using Intel® microprocessors by this time next year, and to transition all of its Macs to using Intel microprocessors by the end of 2007.

Bruce Chizen, Adobe CEO while on stage at WWDC said: “Adobe wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for Apple. You can be absolutely assured that you will be able to run Adobe applications natively on Intel Macs. I have only one question, Steve: What took you so long?”

He went on to say: “Adobe will be first to offer its complete line for Intel-based Macs.”
