Friday Summary / 05-06-2005

In case you missed them earlier in the week, PSN has some must read stories. Really, you simply must read them! (for your own good))

On Friday, April 29, 2005, Martin Evening posted a tip to help you Work Smart with Smart Objects. It’s a good intro to getting started with Smart Objects.

Also on Friday, PSN posted a link to the story about Star magazine doing some, uh, Photoshop work on their cover for the story “Star” Fakes It for Brad, Angelina

PSN also reported on the launch of the Adobe Photographers Directory.

On Sunday, May 1st, Ruth Knoll posted her second Photoshop Widows Club story Photoshop Widows Club – Parte Due Camera Raw, the Real History. This is a must read! Rumor has it that the Adobe 10th floor (where the Photoshop engineering and marketing team work) were burning up the pipes to PNS on this one. :-)

Also on Sunday, Pedro Meyer sent in a little gem titled Life before the computer

On Monday, May 2nd, PSN had a several day exclusive on the story about the new Dr. Brown Scripts. Seems Russell forgot to post them to his own web site. He has done so now but you can still get them from PSN as well.

On Tuesday, May 3rd, Bruce Fraser posted a story to help people who are using Camera Raw 3 and Photoshop CS2 make the jump. Read Raw Shooters CS2 Migration Guide.

Also on Tuesday, PSN posted info about Bruce’s upcoming new book release Real World Camera Raw with Adobe Photoshop CS2 with links to a sample chapter and an interview with Bruce.

PSN also linked to a Nikon D2X review by veteran author Thom Hogan in which he made a major statement regarding the Nikon White Balance Encryption issue first reported here on PhotoshopNews.com.

On Wednesday May 4th, Andrew Rodney posted an excerpt from his upcoming book Color Management for Photographers : Hands on Techniques for Photoshop Users. The article, Print with Preview – Photoshop CS2 gives a detailed explanation of the changes to the Print with Preview function in Photoshop CS2.

PSN covered the news that Camera Raw 3.1 was posted and Bruce Fraser also posted a brief about Working with DNG and Camera Raw 3.1 with a link to download a PDF about Working with DNG.

Also on Wednesday, PSN picked up a story by The Guardian, a major London newspaper about the Format wars.

On Thurday, May 5th, Bert Monroy wrote a story about his First Time With Photoshop. It’s an interesting measurement of how far Photoshop has come.

This is the week that was. . .April 29-May 5, 2005.
