Forgent Sues Microsoft over JPEG Patent

Almost a year to the day after filing patent infringement lawsuits against 31 companies, including Adobe Systems Inc., Apple Computer Inc., Dell Inc. and IBM, Austin, Texas-based Forgent Networks Inc. last week said that its wholly owned subsidiary Compression Labs Inc. has filed suit against Microsoft Corp. for alleged infringement on the patent for JPEG file compression.

Photoshop CS2 Ships

Based upon confirmation on various web sites, it appears that Photoshop CS2 is now shipping. Reports are coming in that early buyers are receiving their packages today, Friday April 22, 2005.

Typically, the early reports of shipments and people receiving their copies, is followed by a ramp up period by Adobe Fulfillment to reach full shipment and wide distribution. That period could take between a week to ten days before Photoshop CS 2 is widely available in retail and web store channels.
