Issue

Adobe Photoshop CS, Adobe Illustrator CS, or Adobe Golive CS quits during application startup with the error “The application failed to initialize properly – 0xc0000005″ on a Sony VAIO computer.

Detail

Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) was preinstalled on the computer.

Solution: Install the current version of the Sony SonicStage mastering program.

1. From the Windows Start menu, choose VAIO Update.

2. Choose to download and install the current version of the SonicStage Mastering Studio Audio Filter program.

3. Follow the instructions on the Sony website download page to download and install the software.

Background information

Sony VAIO computers with Windows XP with SP2 preinstalled come with Sony SonicStage Mastering Studio Audio Filter version 1.1, which isn’t compatible with Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS, or Golive CS. After you have installed the current version of SonicStage software, these Adobe Creative Suite applications will start successfully.
